Pros & Cons

WHAT IS YOUR WEATHER VIBE?

Summer (June–August)

+ Pros: Warm weather, less rain, ideal for beach and mountain ceremonies.

- Cons: Popular tourist season—aim for weekdays or more secluded spots if you want privacy.

Fall (September–October)

+ Pros: Crisp air, dazzling fall foliage, fewer crowds than summer.

- Cons: Rain increases in late fall, and some mountainous areas can get chilly fast.

Winter (November–March)

+ Pros: Fewer tourists, a truly magical vibe if you love moody skies or snowy peaks.

- Cons: Coastal storms and possible mountain road closures—be flexible with your plans.

Spring (April–May)

+ Pros: Blooming wildflowers, mild temperatures, waterfalls at their most impressive thanks to seasonal runoff.

- Cons: Still a fair bit of rain, so keep those umbrellas and waterproof gear handy.

Legal Considerations & Permits

  • Oregon requires a marriage license, available at county offices. Both parties need valid IDs and must be at least 18 years old (16+ with parental consent).

  • Assume yes — Some public lands (national forests, state parks, etc.) require special use permits or location fees for ceremonies or photos. Rules change rapidly — together we will check with local authorities or park services to ensure we’re following the rules.

  • An authorized officiant must conduct your ceremony, and at least two witnesses are required in Oregon. If you’re eloping just the two of you, consider inviting close friends or ask your photographer (that’s us!) to sign as a witness if permitted.
